Finding a Competent Web Development Company is Even Harder.
When a potential client comes to you, jaded, after a bad breakup with their former web development company, the wrath of disdain is clearly palpable, the walls are up and trust ceases to exist. And for the new agency, aka therapist, the challenge of this new relationship… well, let’s just say it’s like walking a tightrope littered with barbed wire.
Unfortunately, we know this all too well.
The conversation usually starts out in a frantic panic; something like this… “I just spent $$$$ on a new website and it keeps crashing… we aren’t receiving requests… the shopping cart isn’t functioning so we are manually processing… we have a campaign running… sigh… can you help!?”
Marknet Group
“Let us take a look at what’s going on….”
“So here’s the issue(s)…”
“We can fix what is broken. We Make It Happen! We Really Do.”
Client
“Yeah. I’ve heard that before. How much is it going to cost?”
And the relationship begins…
This is the moment that you gingerly, and in a non-accusatory approach, lay out the facts. Point A interaction is causing point B adverse reaction. This is what must happen now to resolve the issues.
For us, the developer, it is that simple. But for a client who has been taken advantage of, the mistrust lives strong. They’ve heard the pricey promises of “we can fix your problem”. So here they are, once again, in a desperate position where they must place their trust in yet another company.
Unfortunately we see way too much of this happening. Fortunately, we are problem solvers and we do fix every problem that walks through our doors. If we can’t, we are honest about it. We don’t prey upon someone’s misfortune. That’s our DNA.
There are advantages to clients like this, but the road is fragile. You will have to prove yourself every step of the way, every dollar will be questioned, and there will be a level of insecurity that lingers.
Building trust is a marathon, and it takes a lot of patience and reassurance throughout the journey. But in the end, if you are honest & true, and you exceed expectations; you will have a client for life. They will sing your accolades and continue to do business with you.
It is truly fulfilling to the mind & soul when you have the ability to turn an unpleasant situation into a positive experience. To have created a strong bond of trust, partnership and friendship with these clients is priceless.
We feel so privileged & honored to have the opportunity to work with our clients. This year has been filled with so much gratitude for these experiences. We have grown personally & professionally from it, and our business is much stronger as a result.
And for that We Are Grateful.
